General Direction
Nathalie Maillé
In 2013, Nathalie Maillé was appointed Executive Director of the Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM), an institution that identifies, supports and funds professional artistic creation, production and presentation on the Island of Montreal. She has a solid grasp of public policy and issues in culture and the arts.
Maillé holds a B.A. in Dance from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and a graduate degree in Management of Cultural Organizations from HEC Montréal. She was President of the UQAM Board of Directors from 2018 to 2020 and President of the Board of the Montréal chapter of the International Women’s Forum (IWF) in 2023. In 2024, she also became the first woman to chair the Board of Directors of Tourisme Montréal. As a seasoned manager, she is committed to bringing the arts community closer to the worlds of business, education and tourism in everything she does, with the aim of ensuring the arts receive full recognition outside the cultural sector.
After starting her career at the CAM in 1998 as a development officer, Maillé went on to become Director of Touring and Diversity, then Assistant Executive Director, Programs and Partnerships, and finally Executive Director in 2013. Under her leadership, the Conseil has taken action on several fronts to make place for new talent and diversity, and it has leveraged its numerous partnerships to boost its impact and influence. The 80% jump in the number of organizations supported by the CAM since the beginning of her mandate bears witness to its success.
Widely recognized for her collaborative leadership style and unifying vision, she received the 2015 Réseau des femmes d’affaires du Québec award in the “Parapublic Manager” category, along with a Prix Mosaïque from UQAM in 2023. She was also selected as a finalist, in 2022, for HEC Montréal’s Alumni Award in the “Growth and Performance – Small Business” category.
Every day, Maillé consistently and authentically embodies the Conseil’s values of equity, audacity, agility, proximity and ethics.
