Further to the call for applications put out last December for the Creation-Production Residency in New Artistic Practices, the Diorama project captured the jury’s attention.

About the project

Diorama is an interactive, performative installation, an artificial ecosystem that reproduces in miniature the interdependence between human beings and the environment. It takes the form of a modular and interactive giant mobile that creates a recursive loop between the performers’ movements and the audio and lighting environment. The module serves as a visual medium for a performance that addresses the issue of mankind’s responsibility for preserving the delicately balanced environments that we call home.

Spearheaded by artist Audrey Rochette, the project was realized in collaboration with numerous contributors, including Maude Arès, Élise Bergeron, Rosie Contant, Karine Gauthier, Stéphane Gladyszewski, Philippe Poirier, Alice Sanz and Alexandre St-Onge. A number of partners also assisted with the project’s realization, including the Conseil des arts de Montréal, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Regroupement des arts interdisciplinaires du Québec, La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines, Van Grimde Corps Secrets, Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue and L'Annexe-A.

About the residency
