Evaluation Committees
Acting as scouts, the members of the Evaluation Committees take the pulse of their community to more effectively identify trends and issues. These experts in their field play an essential role in evaluating projects for the Conseil and making informed decisions.
Roles
- Judge the applications submitted to the Conseil’s various grant programs.
- Make decisions on multidisciplinary projects that fall within their expertise and therefore maintain no communication with organizations, collectives, artists and their representatives in all matters relating to the management, evaluation or decisions related to their application.
- Recommend finalists for the Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal.
Composition
The Conseil has 10 evaluation committees representing the various artistic disciplines. Each committee is chaired by a member of the Conseil and is composed of three to nine artists or arts professionals selected by the Conseil. Their term of office is three years. Each member must adhere to the Code of Ethics governing the evaluation process.
For the evaluation of certain programs, or depending on the availability of the members of the evaluation committees, the Conseil invites ad hoc members to join the standing committees in order to benefit from a complete and relevant expertise of the artistic activity sectors.
Organizations, collectives, artists and their representatives agree at all times not to communicate with members of the evaluation committees or members of the Council’s Board of Directors in any matter relating to the management, evaluation or decisions related to their application.
The Conseil des arts de Montréal staff are available to answer questions about the application evaluation process and decisions.
